This Post Isn't For You

This page is for your agent. Its intent is to be used by Claude Code, Codex, or whatever you run, alongside "install Resolve on my Debian machine,".

Everything past the line is a lookup table: the literal string that appears in the crash, and the command that fixes it. No sentences. No why. It is dense on purpose. If it reads like line noise to you, sorry.

RESOLVE 21.x / DEBIAN+PIKAOS / NVIDIA — ERROR → FIX
pre: nvidia-smi ok; /etc/OpenCL/vendors/nvidia.icd; /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcuda.so.1; 25GB free /opt
run: sudo SKIP_PACKAGE_CHECK=1 ./DaVinci_Resolve*_Linux.run -i --allowroot --noconfirm   (-u = uninstall)
ok: "DaVinci Resolve installed to /opt/resolve"

ORDER: 1→2→3 sequential. 4–8 on match only.

1  libfuse.so.2                          apt install libfuse2t64 || libfuse2 || ./*.run --appimage-extract-and-run ...
2  installer: missing libglib2.0-0 /     SKIP_PACKAGE_CHECK=1 (t64 rename; libs are present)
   libapr1 / libasound2
3  symbol lookup error                   mkdir -p /opt/resolve/libs/_disabled
   g_string_free_and_steal |             cd /opt/resolve/libs
   g_task_set_static_name                mv libglib-2.0.so* libgio-2.0.so* libgmodule-2.0.so* libgobject-2.0.so* _disabled/
                                         verify: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/resolve/libs ldd /opt/resolve/bin/resolve | grep -E 'glib|not found'
                                         want: libglib-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/…  ; no "not found"
                                         !! REGRESSES ON EVERY UPDATE. REDO.
4 Could not find the Qt platform cat > /usr/local/bin/resolve <<'W'
   plugin wayland                        #!/usr/bin/env bash
   — or —                                export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb
   exits instantly, no error, no log rm -f /tmp/qtsingleapp-DaVinc-*-lockfile 2>/dev/null
                                         cd /opt/resolve || exit 1
                                         exec /opt/resolve/bin/resolve "$@"

                                         chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/resolve
                                         sed -i 's|^Exec=.*|Exec=/usr/local/bin/resolve %u|' /usr/share/applications/com.blackmagicdesign.resolve.desktop
5  extras/AI model download fails        mkdir -p /etc/pki && ln -s /etc/ssl /etc/pki/tls
6  Cannot activate license |             chmod -R a+rwX /opt/resolve/.license /opt/resolve/Extras
   extras perm denied
7  undefined symbol: _ZNSt3__1           apt install libc++1 libc++abi1
                                         mv /opt/resolve/libs/libc++*.so* /opt/resolve/libs/_disabled/
8 clip imports, no audio ffmpeg -i in.MOV -c:v copy -c:a pcm_s24le out.mov (AAC unsupported on Linux, not fixable)

LOG   ~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/logs/ResolveDebug.txt   grep -E 'ERROR|FATAL'
NOISE "X11 logs not found" | "No Main Display GPU found" | "ProRes RAW" → ignore, present on healthy installs
LIC Studio asks key on first run; reinstall on same box may fail once then self-activate ~15s later
UPD new .run → rerun `run:` line → reapply 3,5,6 (+7 if set). Script at source URL does all of this idempotently.
POLICY never rm from /opt/resolve/libs — mv to _disabled/ only.
